PURCHASE PROCESS If you are considering buying a rabbit from me, please read everything on this page. My Waiting List Currently I'm not accepting any new names to my waiting list, as it has gotten too long. If you see a rabbit for sale on my web site, it available first come/first serve unless otherwise noted. Sale Pending Deposits are NOT accepted until rabbits have been sexed and a thorough health check up has been performed. This includes an inspection of the teeth, ears, eyes and they will be weighed to be sure they are growing properly. This is around 4 weeks old, although occasionally I will do it at 3 weeks. Pictures are updated at least once-twice/week and I will mark a bunny as pending as early as 2 weeks old or when I'm able to determine the sex. Deposits A $20 deposit is now required for me to hold a rabbit for you beyond 5 weeks old. If the deposit is not received by that time, the rabbit will go to the next person in line. I will start accepting deposits after the health check up at around 3.5-4 weeks old. I will let you know how your bunny is doing at that time and I'll instruct you to send payment then. Payments can be made via Paypal.com to my e-mail address or by check through the mail. I will provide my home address upon request. It is not located anywhere on this web site, for safety reasons. Deposits are non-refundable unless you arrive to pick up your bunny and are not happy with it (hasn't happened yet, but I'll never sell a bunny to a home that doesn't like it). Visits I understand that you might not feel comfortable buying from me unless you see my bunnies in person. All of my rabbits are well cared for and live in a climate controlled environment. I do not have a bunny mill. This is a hobby that I love and my bunnies are all a part of my family. All of the money that I make from sales goes right back into my bunnies. With that said, I completely understand and I will try as hard as I can to allow visitors on weekends. The best time for a visit before you commit to purchasing a bunny, is between 3-4 weeks of age. You should still pick out a bunny online, but you can pay the deposit in person or after your visit to my rabbitry. I realize that not everyone lives close enough to make an extra visit. If you want extra pictures, I am always happy to send more pictures of a particular bunny to help make the decision easier for you. Pick up Arrangements must be made for pick up within one week of the pick up date. If I do not hear from you after a week of the pick up date, I will retain your deposit and sell the bunny to the next person in line. I may apply your deposit to another rabbit of your choosing depending upon the circumstances. Usually a pick up time is arranged well in advance. I will occasionally deliver rabbits or meet people halfway depending on the distance and my schedule. Always feel free to ask. I only ask for money to cover fuel costs. You will need to bring a carrier with you to take your bunny home. It can be as simple as a medium sized cardboard box with a blanket in the bottom (with top flaps) or a cat carrier or small pet carrier. If you need help purchasing something, I can probably get you a good deal on one, since I'm regularly ordering bunny supplies. I will give you a purple bag at pick up. Inside you will find a pedigree, pet care sheet, toy and 2 weeks worth of food. I recommend that you feed your bunny this food for the first 2 days and then mix it 50/50 with the food you will be using. Please only use 15-16% protein rabbit feed (pellet only - no nuts/seeds/fruits/etc). I will be happy to find a location close to you to puchase the kind of food I'm using. It is $7 / 25 lbs. If you let me know a week ahead of time, I'll buy you a bag and you can pay for it at pick up. For more information about feeding your pet bunny click here. Payment at pick up will only be accepted in cash... sorry. Directions Directions can be found on my directions page. E-mail me for a Username and Password. I do not have my address listed on this web site for safety reasons. Please don't ask me for my address, so that you can look up directions yourself. I love Google and Mapquest and others, but they give wrong directions to our location. I can not stress this enough. Unfortunately everyone that has used them has gotten lost and sometimes they don't have my phone number to call me. If you use my directions page, my phone number is listed there and you can't go wrong. If for some reason there is a problem or you need me to send directions by e-mail from your location, I will be very happy to do that. Navigation systems also send you the wrong way and I've gotten many calls from people lost using GPS. Please at least print out my directions as a back up. It will make it easier on both of us, since I'm terrible with directions if I have to talk someone through it. FAQ How should I feed my bunny? I have created a page dedicated to feeding your new new pet bunny. Click Here Can you help me with buying supplies? Yes! I'll be more than happy to help direct you to both web sites and stores that offer good quality cages and supplies depending on your needs. I like the Tubbies cages and they are lower priced than at the pet stores. Do you have a health guarantee? Yes, although I don't have it written down, because to me it's too complicated. I wouldn't want a grieving family to take a buuny to a vet for a necropsy, like most guarantees state. I guarantee the health of all bunnies at pick up time. I do regular health check ups and never knowingly sell an unhealthy rabbit. If a rabbit should become sick within a month of pick up, please let me know right away. I will need to know the symptoms and diagnosis (if seen by a vet). If it is a genetic disorder, I will gladly replace the bunny with the next available one of your choosing. I will not pay for any vet bills. I have never had any contagious diseases in my rabbitry aside from one case of ear mites that was treated quickly in mid-2007. I deworm my bunnies and take great care of them. If your bunny should become sick and die shortly after pick up, I will usually refund or give you a new bunny. I don't want people to be unhappy. This is an unusual situation though and it is up to my discretion. Why should I buy from a breeder? A breeder has put a lot of effort and energy into raising each of their bunnies and spends time finding good homes for them. If you buy from a pet store, you don't know if the bunny has been in-bred or anything about its history. A good breeder who sells to individuals actually cares about where the bunny ends up and will provide lifetime support and advice should the owner need it. Can I call you to find out what is for sale? No. That is usually a very complicated question. More complicated than you would think. Since I do almost all of my business online, I have to go through many waiting lists and I usually have a few people e-mailing me trying to decide which rabbit they are interested in. I do not give out my phone number unless you are visiting me or are picking up a rabbit. If you get on my waiting list, I use the date you first e-mailed me to determine where you are on the list. I have a wealth of information on my web site and I'm happy to answer any question by e-mail, but I don't have the time to answer all questions by phone (especially if it is answered in detail on my site). I have a toddler and infant and with all the time I spend online, with my bunnies, hedgehogs, other job for my husband's web design business and being a housewife/Mom... well things just get busy. :) More questions will be added shortly... |
